Jun 06, 2024

In order to accelerate the high-quality development of the titanium industry, comprehensively improve the production technology level of the industry, and enhance international competitiveness, the 12th China International Titanium Industry Exhibition and 2024 China International Advanced Metal Materials Expo, sponsored by the China Nonferrous Metals Society, China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association Titanium Zirconium Hafnium Branch, China Peaceful Utilization Military Technology Association, China Metal Society, and China Chemical Equipment Association, opened in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province on May 16th.

With the theme of "sharing new development and win-win titanium future", this exhibition focuses on such fields as dual-use titanium materials for military and civilian use, advanced metal materials, etc., attracting 280 units from the whole titanium industry chain, military industry, aviation, aerospace, petrochemical, shipbuilding and other advanced manufacturing industries to participate in the exhibition, with an exhibition area of 20000 square meters. More than 500 representatives from domestic and foreign industry enterprises, experts and scholars attended the exhibition, with nearly 5000 visitors on the first day of the exhibition.

Zhou Wusheng, former Chief Engineer of the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and Chairman of the China Association for Peaceful Use of Military Industry Technology, Wang Xinjiang, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the China Society of Metals, and Lei Rangqi, President of the Titanium Zirconium Hafnium Branch of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. Vice President and Secretary General of the Titanium Zirconium Hafnium Branch of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, An Zhongsheng, Vice General Manager of Baotai Group Co., Ltd., Chen Zhanqian, Vice President of Northwest Nonferrous Metals Research Institute, Liang Shujin, and Deputy Director of Baoji High tech Industrial Development Zone Management Committee, Liu Jianjun, and other leaders and guests attended the opening ceremony. Zhang Hongguo, Chairman of the China Nonferrous Metals Society, presided over the opening ceremony.

Titanium Industry Exhibition

Zhou Wusheng stated that titanium and advanced metal materials are the material foundation for the development of modern defense technology industry. The progress of defense technology industry is accompanied by a series of key material technology breakthroughs, and each generation of materials will inevitably produce a generation of equipment. The China Association for Peaceful Use of Military Industry Technology will make good use of the exhibition platform, work together to build a closer community of shared future for the new era industry, comprehensively enhance the overall carrying capacity of high-quality development of the titanium and metal materials industry, enhance the level of advanced national defense technology industry with Chinese characteristics, support the construction of the national defense army, and serve economic and social development.

Wang Xinjiang stated that metal materials, as the foundation of modern industry, are of great significance in promoting economic development, technological progress, and social progress. With the comprehensive promotion and implementation of China's manufacturing power strategy, new materials science and engineering technologies continue to emerge, promoting the accelerated transformation and upgrading of the metal materials industry, and achieving significant improvement in material properties. The China Society of Metals will actively promote the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure, increase scientific and technological research and development efforts, strengthen international cooperation and exchanges, and strive to build a metal materials industry system with international competitiveness.

Lei Rangqi pointed out that titanium, as an important strategic metal of the country and a key raw material supporting cutting-edge technological progress, has ushered in a new round of development opportunities. China's titanium industry continues to strengthen technological innovation, optimize industrial structure, actively expand new fields of application, and successfully achieve the transformation from the "quantity era" to the "quality era", continuously consolidating the positive trend. At present, China's titanium industry structure is steadily moving towards aviation, aerospace, navigation, high-end chemical, new energy and other fields. The mature application of titanium in the 3C field will bring the titanium industry to a new turning point, which means that titanium and titanium alloys are expected to successfully cross into a broader consumer field and bring new growth points to the titanium industry. Relevant enterprises should seize opportunities, increase their efforts in technology introduction, accelerate the promotion of intelligent equipment and software updates, seize opportunities for technological and industrial transformation, expand brand influence, enhance market competitiveness, and continuously meet the needs of national economic development, industrial upgrading, and enterprise self transformation.

At the forum, An Zhongsheng, Vice President and Secretary General of the Titanium Zirconium Hafnium Branch of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, Wang Li, Researcher at the Key Laboratory of Reactor Fuel and Materials at the China Nuclear Power Research and Design Institute, Zhu Xiurong, Chief Scientist of the 52nd Institute of China Ordnance Industry Group, and Tang Lina, Deputy Plant Director of the Heat Surface Branch of Shanghai Aerospace Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd., respectively reported on the topics of "2023 Titanium Industry Development Report", "Analysis of the Application Prospects of Titanium Alloy in Nuclear Power Field", "Research and Application Status of Armored Titanium Alloy", and "Application and Demand of Titanium Alloy in Aerospace Products".

This exhibition lasts for 3 days, and the exhibitors are enthusiastic. The exhibits cover titanium smelting, titanium products in military and civilian fields, intelligent equipment, and more. The exhibition provides a good communication platform for titanium related enterprises. Visitors can not only have a detailed understanding of the production process of titanium, but also purchase terminal products of titanium on site. The exhibition site is unprecedentedly grand.

At the same time as the exhibition, sub forums such as the 2024 Military Civilian Dual Use Titanium Materials and Advanced Metals Development Forum and the 2024 Petrochemical Titanium Materials Development Forum were also held. Experts and scholars from industry enterprises, universities and research institutes have conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on promoting the scale, novelty, and high-end development of the titanium industry, deepening the process of industrial reform and upgrading, cultivating and strengthening new consumption scenarios for metal materials such as titanium, and strengthening collaborative innovation and industrial cooperation.
